Rotary is a worldwide organisation of business, professional and community leaders. Clubs are non-political, non-religious and open to all cultures, races and creeds. Richly rewarding, Rotary International gives you the opportunity to ‘pay it forward’ and to have a positive impact wherever you choose.

Our Health and Wellbeing Expo was very successful, with positive reports from all exhibitors, and we would like to thank the providers who gave up their Saturday for the community. We managed to provide a free three course meal to 50 pensioners and 16 providers.

All the senior members would have been familiar with the story of Fiona Coote; Australia’s first heart transplant recipient   I personally thought she was a warm giving person and we enjoyed the time we had with her. She stayed throughout the day and made sure she spoke to everyone there. She is also excited about coming back to our Train Festival. That’s the good part, as for the Gala Dinner we had planned and had to cancel due to lack of interest and the fact that only 7 RSV P’s were received from 60 invites sent out, and they mostly came from members of the Scone Council, we were bitterly disappointed with the lack of response from the business houses in town plus Schools, Doctors etc. I just wonder what part of RSVP the other 53 don’t understand?

We also thank our members for the huge amount of work that went on behind the scenes Thank You Girls and Colin who put it all together. We would like to give a special thanks to the Upper Hunter Shire Council and to Heather Ranclaud; also a big thank you to the Bowling Club for their continued support of Rotary.

But we move on now to the next event, and that’s the Model Train Festival 21st – 22nd October, things are moving along with more exhibitors eager to come, It will run on similar lines to last year with the Rose Show in the Bowling Club Saturday Morning, we look forward to another fine display of roses and only hope the weather holds rain free for us, so mark the dates on your calendar and join us for another fun filled weekend.

We have also had all the materials delivered for the beautification of the  Railway Station, and work will start on that as soon as the work is finished on the tracks, so that should be some time in the next couple of weeks, looking forward to the completion of  that project.

Cheers from the Secretaries Desk
