A two-storey Victorian Italianate former bank building at 140 Mayne Street, built in 1865.
Erected in 1865 for the Joint Stock Bank before operating as the Commercial Banking Company (CBC) from 1870 to 1938, this grand Italianate building was designed in the style associated with architect George Allen Mansfield and retains its original pressed-metal ceilings and walk-in bank vault. It later served as a boarding house and shops before becoming a private residence. One of 30 stops on the town's Heritage Walk.
