Winter is now half over and all of our latest intake of volunteers have nearly completed their basic training requirements to be prepared for this year’s official storm season which starts in September. A course in operating communication equipment is currently being organised to complete our basic training.
The Hunter Region SES Controller, Greg Perry, recently visited our unit on the 24th July. The purpose of this visit is to appoint Unit Controllers for the next two years. We understand that our present Unit Controller, Bob Standen, and serving deputies will be reappointed. The occasion will also provide the opportunity for our newer volunteers to meet with the paid staff who run the NSW State Emergency Service.
The SES is volunteers assisting their community during emergencies.
For emergency assistance during floods or storms call the SES on 132 599.
