The Murrurundi Garden Club has been meeting for 34 years. The club was founded by Marion Norvill. The number of members has grown since then. We meet on the first Monday of every month at 1.30pm, at one of our member's gardens. We have a trading table, where you can bring a plant or home grown vegies to be swapped for another plant. We have a point score contest, where everyone brings "the flower of the month" to be decided at the previous meeting by our president.
At the end of the year the person with the highest point score wins a prize. We all bring a plate to share for afternoon tea and we bring our own cup and chair. We also have a raffle every month with the prize being $10. We have guest speakers every so often, when we can get them. We have our birthday luncheon every two years. The next one will be in July, 2015, where we invite members from other garden clubs to celebrate our birthday. We have a Christmas Luncheon every November where we all buy a little present, so everyone receives one. We don't have meetings in December or January.
The cost of 12 months membership is $7.00.
There is a Zone Picnic Day every year and our club catered for the last one, which was last March, and was very successful. We receive invitations to a lot of other garden club's birthday luncheons which are always very interesting, exciting and informative. Our President, Del Ross, is a horticulturist and is very happy to give advice on any garden problems.
We welcome any visitors or new members to our meetings. We have our AGM in November to decide on the next committee. Some of our members open their gardens in October to the public. The details will be advertised.
